Russian goes on two week hermitage on top of rock to protect bears

An environmental activist is spending two weeks on top of a rock at a Russian nature reserve to protest against the initiative to kill all the wild bears in the park.

After that, the visitors of the park started collecting signatures to put down all of the bears in the nature reserve.
“This absurd ultimatum revolted me and gave me the idea of a protest on the rock,” photographer and environmental activist Alexander Kuptsov says in a statement published on the park’s website.
The park is famous for its strangely shaped, free standing rocks, which gave the park its name, Stolby, which means “pillars”.
Starting Wednesday, Kuptsov will spent two weeks sitting on a single-seat alpinist platform on top of one of these rocks. From there, he will observe the park, take pictures and post them onto a website.
